Thanks to newshfan I could watch it today! Sometimes, when it’s more of an airheaded drama you’ll watch without subs for two reasons: 1. dialog isn’t that hard to follow, 2. it doesn’t matter. xD. For Ending Planner though, this is not the choice of preference for 2000-word-girl. Before we get to the serious part, screencap joy!

You know, it was around here I realised Yamapi actually needs a razor now. Had to wait 26 years but finally, all that practising paid off. lol. /meanie.

I nearly forgot how handsome he looks in suits! ♥

My thoughts on Ending Planner:
To be quite honest, if Yamapi wasn’t in it, I would only give it one more episode to see if it would develop or not. It just has a little bit too much realism value I think. It’s that or I truly have watched too many korean drama’s; which truly have a tendency to overdramatise. Serious Japanese drama’s are never like that. The only thing too coincidental is of course the constant meetings with the Detective. “We must keep composure”. By the way, have any of you also noticed jdrama’s have been generally skimming ‘grim topics’ ever since the earthquake/tsunami?

I think what’s important for this drama is to build it up to climax, so I’ll be curious if the audience will get that or not. I think the kid going up to him and saying “He was my father! I’ll never forgive you!” is a good start. Let’s see if it comes back.

Thumbs up for the crying scene though. ^_^ Yamapi outdoes many other Johnny’s when it comes to ‘on camera crying’. If you’ve ever watched Matsujun do a crying scene, it will make you cry it’s that bad (too much drama from our Queen). What I do notice though, and maybe that’s just my mind, when it doesn’t need to be faked (asin; when Yamashita is being himself) he has the tendency to pull in his lips and then only the left side of his mouth has a deeper cringe; at least in the beginning.

There’s news from the not-news member. lol. Yamashita is going to be in a new drama this winter (starting January). I’m not going to type the title again as it almost taxes my spelling capacity more than “right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex” (and yes; that probably doesn’t exist). Just had to post immediately in my study break to share my enthousiasm about this.

So instead of the wedding planner, it’s the ending planner! MORBID. Of course I like such things. I wonder if it’s only going to be a dramatic/romantic type drama… I hope they’ll include at least some elements of comedy. You know, small puns people will look for every episode. Somewhat like how Walter in Fringe manages to say something unexplainably weird and funny at an inappropriate moment.

I once met a man that started a funeral business. I asked him: “What on earth brought you to the idea to run a funeral home?”. He said: “I’ll never run out of customers and they never complain about bad service”.

The anti-fans are going to get a kicker out of this, I’m sure. “Oh look, Robo-P / Dead Fish Eyes finally landed a role that’ll come quite natural to him”.

Maa~ will be waiting to see how this one turns out!

When you thought you checked out all of this season’s good jdrama’s, suddenly you find one that might be interesting. I wasn’t particularly charmed by the cast, but after having watched episode 1 I thought it the story was too funny to pass up. That is…. until it reverted back to average. Oh noes!

So what is the story about?
In short: the story is about a 25 year old girl (Kuroki Meisa) who turns to a matchmaking company in order to find a man.

What could have made it brilliant?
If she didn’t lie on her matchmaking application and at least would have had the job as a system designer! The first episode really touches the problems IT gals have finding love. She displayed the same kind of attitude: “Don’t care about the type of guy as long as he isn’t in my way”, “It’s because I’m not the cute type, right? That’s why men never get serious about me.” And then when her advisor took pictures of her and said “You look kinda stiff”. XDD. It was hilarious to me all the way. In the intake one thing sort of gave it away she was lying though: admitting/saying she wanted a rich man. It doesn’t fit the profile per say. Then they enter Fujiki Naohito’s character: a big shot lawyer who went to the matchmaking company to find “a beautiful woman” and “the reason he says that out loud is because he thinks that’s not discriminating. Saying you like someone because they like to cook/clean is much worse and kills the fighting spirit of a woman”. Rofls. Trust me, this drama would have been way better if the second or third episode was about putting a system designer with a lawyer together in one room. FAIL, with the potential to turn out nasty in a hilarious way.

All I can say is: shame that recognizable topics for the masses once again prevail over a topic that has not been explored. Then again, I know if they once make a drama like I would have wanted to have this one turn out, they’ll totally geekify the female nerd as they do the male ones and turn it cracktastic. The beauty of it is: you don’t need to make a spectacle out of it for it to still be insanely funny. In short: my life makes a really good drama. XD. That’s also the joke that let’s system admin’s laugh, btw. “You know, if my life wasn’t mine and I’d watch from a distance it’s pretty fucking funny”. There basically ARE NO other people that will look at you and your dead serious poker face and start laughing. Nope, other people will ask you if you’re okay or need to see a shrink (lol). That, including bystanders, is already five minutes of great tv. I’m basically waiting for Japan or Korea’s entertainment industry to finally romanticize the unromanticizable in a naturally cracktastic way.

The only jdrama left I’m following now is REBOUND. The stuff that comes out right now can not even compared with 5 years ago. It’s got nothing to do with the earthquake. It’s been declining in quality for about 2-3 years. I’m currently waiting for that mindblowing drama to turn me around before even I am lost in Korea.

REBOUND is about a girl who has always been quite large since she was young, but managed to loose a lot of weight and get her dream job at a fashion magazine. Somehow she ends up doing an article on a cake-shop she had been to as a child and ate the best shortcake ever. The shop is now run by the owner’s son, which she of course falls in love with. However, she ends up writing a pretty mean article about the shop because of her boss and the magazine’s objectives which leads the poor guy into despair. Out of guilt she starts tasting all of his cakes while he searches for “new cake creations”. Of course she got fat again;)

Anyways. Just watch it for yourself, I won’t give away any spoilers. You can’t even recognize the actual actrice here, but for followers of jdrama she should not be an unfamiliar face. Yes! Known for another collab with her male costar Hayami Mokomichi, it’s Aibu Saki. However… her attempts of portraying a geeky ‘Ooba’ can get seriously on your nerves. It’s not any different with Taichi. I think the series would be better if they ditched the overacting that’s so prevalent in many jdrama’s… It’s not been the first time I said it, but eventually many jdrama’s have had success with major crack/overacting and only few gain legendary status without it. However, this drama will never reach legendary with that element in place. After episode 2, I’m still not sure how “My boss my hero” ever got to legendary status… I’ll grant you that one idiotic look from Nagase is enough;)

Still, it amuses me when I’m watching it and I have no need to fiddle with the fast forward button.

I ran into this really old jdrama by accident. I was purposefully looking for something Japanese to watch since my Korean intake has been huge lately. There’s only so much Kimchi you can see ne. Shota no Sushi is about a country boy going to the big city to become a sushi chef. Every episode a new aspect of making sushi is featured, of course together with a small story featuring new people and their problems. ^o^

In some angles, the lead looks sort of like Shige. You won’t believe me until you watch it.

It’s exactly these conversations that I was missing in Korean drama:

It’s so Japanese to watch a drama about food to see it grow into something totally sentimental.

The slots are filling up on fansub comms. Most shows don’t have a synopsis, but I did manage to spot these:

Control: Could develop into a good drama, two words: Fujiki Naohito.

Misaki: the one and only reason I want to try one is because the plot sounds so overdone I’m just curious what they’ll make of this Gokusen 233923832.

Honboshi: because maybe I’d like to see how it relates to Mr. Brain. I don’t think it can make it to that level, though. That’s what you get when you cast Kimura Takuya.

Deka Wanko: Because I want to see p00dletop (Tesshi) in what seems like an over the top crack drama, if even sticking it out for one episode.

Fuyu no Sakura: “What’s wrong with being naked?”. It’s going to haunt Tsuyoshi Kusanagi forever now. However, Fuyu no Sakura is a TBS drama. Generally speaking, they have the best drama’s 3/4 seasons. I’m taking the gamble this one is no different.

Lady: One episode Keiko, convince me. Only because it’s a TBS drama.

So what am I going to skip:

I’m not going to look into Bartender, even though it has Aiba. Reason? No decent plot.

Upon return from Paris, Sasakura Ryu spends some time wandering amiss, but after some time he decides to start anew by becoming a bartender. On a daily basis as a bartender, he helps solve the various problems burdening his customers, including work and love and family troubles, one cocktail at a time.

Taisetsu koto: because Toda Erika is in it. I’ve seen too much of her. Just like Maki.

I must admit it’s the most lame title you can think of for a jdrama, as it immediately reminds you of the Dr. Dolittle movies. I guess it’s been purposely chosen so people would have some kind of morbid curiosity about the series.

The main reason I decided to watch it? Simple: Oguri Shun and Narimiya Hiroki. Need I say more?

Yesterday I watched the first episode. It’s nothing like Dr. Dolittle, luckily! It was actually enjoyable, so I hope they can keep up the quality of the episodes til the end. It will probably be the only jdrama I’m following this season. The rest didn’t strike me as very interesting, unless fandom would like to point out a gem.

It is really funny watching Jdrama from your Tokyo hotel room. It’s weird. lol. I’m watching Sunao ni Narenakute because I liked Eita with Toma in VOICE. To my great surprise, I saw another familiar face! Hero Jaejoong. So he’s made his acting debut now. Think I’m going to keep following this when I get back home too. The hotel tv only has 10 channels or so, barely have it on.

Mom usually comes to chat at 9:30pm Tokyo time to see how I’m doing. It seems dad’s still worried haha. It’s funny, my mom is more like an advanced worry person but it’s always my dad that has the most trouble when I’m actually gone. Wouldn’t be surprised it will be the case. ^o^ I taught my parents how to use msn before I left. Someday I’m going to regret this, but not now XD.

Oh! My cheeks are already burnt to a crisp “pink”. I use sun screen strength / factor 50 and it still happens. 50 latitude is obviously not 33 latitude. I have a gift from the land of the rising sun still on my face from 2007. A small pigment spot appeared underneath my eye after my holiday. Never disappeared. So this time, I come with major sun block.

I think I might go out into the city once or twice at night during my stay, but I’m really not the type to go clubbing~. Completely alone, I also wouldn’t feel very comfortable doing that. Just like home: ass bored and nao I can’t even drink myself to shit because I have to remember to get to the hotel. Back home we call this “filling up the hump”. Like a camel. You go out, gawk at he monkeys, drink too much and then you’re good to go for another couple months. Besides? Most guys that have even the courage to come up to me while I’m out are either closing in on retirement, even more drunk than I am or simply gay. Yes, you heard me: gay. I remember one evening in a Belgian club and a gay man asked my phone number, said it was because ‘he liked my ass’. Um… no thanks BYE.

Disaster strikes! Number one source of RAW and Subbed drama’s going down, so it seems. At least in the way and manner which we know it today. Where this will take us? I don’t know, but it surely isn’t going to be an improvement.

D-Addicts has been the number one public resource for years. Actually for as long as I’ve been in fandom I’ve been on this site. So sad -_-.

There are many many drama fans out there, so I’m sure that – even if D-Addicts ceases to exist or is unable to provide the large community in a different form – it’ll be possible to get the distribution going again. The only problem with that is, “the flow of files” is going to get disrupted for a while there when they decide whatever they will decide. The only answer and power we have to counter that as users / drama lovers is word of mouth. So more on this news as it develops.

Edit #1: Tracker will be closed starting Monday, slowly letting the torrents die off. Going animesuki style, a way to keep “the flow of files” for the large part. On the other hand, other bittorrent trackers will again get a new user base pushed onto them. And so the wheels on the bus…

Liked the gore in this episode of Code Blue (ep 3). Whomever says my YamaGoldfish is a bad actor, I’m going to spank them.

Please look at the following picture. Look at the left eye. Now look at the right eye.

Left eye: fear and “omfg what a mess”.
Right eye: focus mode and “oo cool, this is gonna be interesting, poking it out”.

Of course I’m the only one that sees the brilliance. lol.

We can’t all see the light~

I’d like him to have a role sometime soon that doesn’t exploit his constant “intense” look though. I don’t need Akira back, just something complex and dorky – without looking too dorky.

Someone hit me! Yamapi’s face should be against the law. If I ever were to drive in Japan and I’d see a bigass billboard someplace with his face on it … I don’t think I’ll get away with it without a few write-offs. “Sorry, he was up there _again_”. I would total 4 cars in 4 months. I’m actually seriously wondering if his face on a billboard caused any accidents. I wouldn’t be surprised. Not at all.

Wth… I’ve seen the pictures of Shinagawa station when the promotions of Code Blue 2 were at it’s peak. This is not a wise decision while I’m there. I’d walk under a subway train while I’m looking at it – for sure! Walk into people, walk into the revolving doors, lantern posts, concrete pillars, … I’d do all that to catch a glimpse of this guy. I mean… Code Blue, Dr. Aizawa is a friggin’ health hazard. Wawie ♥.

I’ve been catching up this weekend. I have to say my favorite drama for the season is Yamanade, definitely. I am so thankful it hasn’t gone over the crack level border. Mabushiiiiiiii~ It does have a tendency to border too much though. I just hope it’s going to ‘keep it real’ (even if in fairytale land) for the rest of it.

The only character I really dislike is Tegoshi’s. Too much ‘puppy’.

I got reminded how much I like seeing Kame in drama’s. Almost as much as my YamaGoldfish. almost.

“There are no miracles”, now let’s show how many ways Aizawa Kousaku will be wrong in this show. Will we make a believer out of you?

XDD. Just kidding. It’s christmas in episode 1 for god’s sake. Other than that, I can’t quite piece together the words until the translation comes out.

Not a bad way to start off the second season. Is it just me or have the “intense scenes” become a little more quiet and structured? Must be my imagination. I no longer have a rushed feeling watching those scenes so that’s good. If they can keep this up in the action scenes that’s going to be a lot better. Episode 1, action scenes: Feles-kun ™ stamp of approval.

I remain not very good with human drama, because after the action scenes when the crying and sobbing things start I’m not as there as I should be. That’s entirely my fault, I’m sure. Whatever puns the little guy makes whom I can’t remember the name of and whatever is going on with nurse thingy and wheelchair man: I skip them scenes. Don’t feel too urged to listen with my full potential trying to garble out the Japanese that I can understand. Will read them over in the translation to tell if I’m just too lazy.

^_______^ More caps under the cut.

This not a good way to film the YamaGoldfish. I’m afraid his shirt will fall off. /mean.

Like this moment I was talking about earlier. I heard something meal and then I thought maybe I’m hungry. Then figured I was too lazy to try my hardest to listen.

Are they still plucking his eyebrows? I don’t want a Yamachicken on my screen.

<3

If that was a doc, I’d get in an accident so he could fix me. “Don’t you stand there doc, operate!”.

This is why handsome men like him never should become doctors. Public health hazard.
