Interesting article, surely have a few things to say about that, including that the statement is false if women are the only ones that feel this. It’s untrue.
They mention ‘perfectionism’ as one of the causes and being ‘overly ambitious’. Well I look at it this way: if you take everything away from someone including their dignity, and expect them to roll over, you’ll indeed have it easier with men. Johnny-san wasn’t full of shit when he said boys are easier to work with XDD. Remember that fangirls;)
Ambition raised and nurtured from 100% frustration and anger isn’t real ambition. It’s *self defence* instead of a meaningful activity. If anyone can tell you that, it’s me. I’ve been saying that from day one. I don’t know how many people aren’t even able to tell the difference when they look at me or are actually bullshitting themselves into believing that even if ambition is hatred-driven, ambitious is a good thing for themselves as well as others. We’ve been taught to love the word ambition ever since we were little kiddies. I might redefine that for you: ambition is somewhere where the ‘will’ is freely. People that are running against a wall so hard that they decide to bash back are not ambitious, they are angry. And those are your future leaders: many of you will actively pursue leadership positions out of anger. H00mins fail. I almost failed as a perfectly acceptable way of failing you (and perhaps I still will…).
Nothing like being an only chick in a man’s profession to see how much everything fails. Talk to some women who’ve spent years in IT for real, and I can guarantee you none of these ladies can say they had ambition for the right reasons. I mentally a dropped out, but I’m still walking around because it’s my bread n water. That I see through so much psychology of this makes me realize I’m probably the best one to put (myself) forward knowing I can’t change a damn thing part of the same system. Constantly running into myself wanting to ‘go at it’ from a side-position.
I can also exchange a word or two about perfectionism. Allow me;) Perfectionism in it’s negative sense is a word invented by people that do a crap-ass job. Simple as that. Perfectionism in their eyes is a way of saying “Good that you’re sticking out miles above our heads, doll. Feeling frustrated? It’s your own fault, you should have done a crap-ass job.” Same goes for the word ‘critical’, which is a critical thing to have if your job is IT because otherwise you’ll suck at it. How funny everyone forgets to mention that. People that are not inquisitive enough or driven enough to get to the bottom of things because they simply don’t have an insatuable curiosity; f*cking suck. If you in any way cannot get down to the h00min/mortal level of existing, you’re in trouble and will get to know “ambition” as how society approves to define it.
If you see through all that b/s there’s only one way to still burn down like match-stick puppet: not finding a way to succeed to use ambition in the way the word should be used with the perfectionism and everlasting critical outlook you hold dear. Like your gender when you’re born, that’s what you are – it’s not a choice. Funny enough (and likely thank god for those that are stuck) gender is easier to change than a mindset. Succeeding my friends, isn’t quite up to the person trying to go for it once they know what to do. With the years, the energy fades. This is a disease only intelligent and good hearted people fall victim of, and you know it. Bloated apes and screamers don’t have the perfectionism to back that mouth up.
