I was checking out KPOP bands as my friend Snowmyth has a mild tick lately. lol. SS501 still can’t charm me except for an occasional song, but there’s no member to go crazy for.
The current big hit is of course BigBang and once again I have to come to the conclusion it’s only becoming good if they’re starting to sing in Japanese. Songs like My Heaven, Koe wo Kikasete, all sung in Japanese but they’re the ones that stand out. Exception being Haru Haru. Oh! And the IRIS theme song.
The Korean stuff seems too pretentious by BigBang. Too much low pants, shizzle and bullshit (read: I seriously hate hipsnot). Unfortunately the member I like best, namely G-Dragon has that tendency a lot, on crystal/ crack.
Then I remembered: there’s also T.O.P. to like. Guyliner, it just simply rules, what can I say?
Completely the other way around from TVXQ which just seemed to better in their native language, I mean non-pants sagging flaming b/s. Let’s just say they’re on the correct way. I guess it’s the hipsnottish background that I dislike more than the language betrayal that usually takes place. I like my kpop bands to sing in Korean as a Dutch girl. Why? I don’t know the hell why. Just seems like the natural thing to do.
A name I never heard about before is 2PM, which youtube served me. Interesting videos. But nothing really catches my interest other than that.
And there’s of course Super Junior, who TVXQ once promoted. That group is too big, it doesn’t make any sense and it’s not shiny.
A big name in KPOP is probably Se7en. Been hearing about that everywhere. I did not get happy by watching this vid:
