Mars

Jun

2010

Since a day or two I’ve been watching ‘Mars’, a Taiwanese drama if I’m not mistaking. Just for the change of sound (language) I sometimes switch to Korean or Chinese because I can get tired of hearing Japanese. It’s actually another “goose romance drama”, but what keeps me watching is the male lead character. For some reason they do a way better job on creating the male character in non Japanese drama’s. It’s less black and white. Cocky yes, crazy yes, arrogant yes, but not a #&$^*&&#*(* bastard nobody is able to like which you see in jdrama a  lot (and in Korean, btw).

Also, he ain’t bad to look at! XD.

:hoping:

I expected so much from Mars because everyone was saying it was so awesome. I liked it in the beginning in the end not so much. I really hate it when my expectations are high I never end up liking a movie/drama.

Actually Taiwan dramas (or at least the very few that I have seen) have really good male characters. Just like how you described them. For that reason Sano in HanaKimi seemed like an asshole but his Taiwanese version even with bad acting wasn’t one. He was just aloof but found a good balance. Even the Taiwan Tsukasa-HYD I liked his portrayal the best even if I’m a Johnny’s fan. Taiwan dramas makes Japanese mangas more realistic and human imo. But I’m just drawing my conclusions from Taiwan Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango, Devil Beside You and Hi Working Girl. Both of which I prefer more than their Japanese versions. But overall I like Jdramas because they have better story lines. But for Japanese manga live action I prefer when Taiwan does it.

You know what’s weird? Despite Jin’s lack of acting ability. I can picture him playing the lead role in Mars. I don’t know if it’s the hair, the bike or the ladies man part of him that makes me think so. Hmm now that I think of it the intensity that Jin has sometimes and his unpredictability. I ain’t no Jin fangirl so I wasn’t being delusional picturing Jin everywhere. ahahaa~ Yeah I’m a fan but not like that. I only like him for his voice mostly and don’t find him attractive. I must be blind cause everyone seems to think so. I think Kame looks better. Junno has the potential too if he would fix himself up, he’s my favorite. Not that you asked just throwing that out there. ;)

I’ve just seen it to the end as well. The first few eps are very promising, then around the end it went a little too tame and stretchy.

It’s good to know I’m not the only one that feels the difference between male leads in Jdrama and Taiwan drama. I like the more human side much more.

      KAT-TUN <3, just like myself. :D

Sorry I was distracted when I typed that but when I said “both of which” I meant HYD and Hanakimi because there’s no Jap live action for the last two I mentioned.

It’s good to know people in the fandom watch TW dramas. Everyone else mostly watch Jdramas and Kdramas. I’ve only seen 2 Kdramas. 1st was Boys Over Flowers. For obvious reasons.
