Forgive this rather weird post, it’s a collection of just random thoughts I had lately regarding Yamapi and how much he’s grown as an entertainer.
Singing
The singing has improved from the earlier years, definitely. He will probably never have a golden voice, but if he continues working on it I guess it’ll be ‘good’ instead of ‘average’. Personally, I was impressed by his singing in “Why” on the Diamond dvd. Tegoshi is just overshadowing all of NEWS really when it comes to singing. Always said that when this boy gets control of his voice he’d stick the rest behind the wallpaper, and that he did.
Dance
I used to call Yama “sloppy-kun” when it comes to dancing. A little short of a fairy, but still too masculine for the fairy movements. lol. It’s like I’m seeing Kame dancing without the ballet drill. Excuse me for calling it “fairy”! I have several names for it floating around in Dutch in my head, like “zwierig” – which comes down to “elegant” with a sloppy touch. Even if you couldn’t recognize the faces from afar on a video, you could always tell which one is 
Yamashita by the ~yelly~ movement. If there’s anything to improve here, it’s making tighter and more aggressive movements, but it’s very important to remain to have your own identity while doing that. Anything that has character / identity will speak – copies don’t. So leave Michael Jackson to R.I.P. When I look at the NEWS dvd he outdoes the rest of the members, but Tegoshi is breathing down his neck (*pokes at the competition*). On the other hand, if you’ve ever watched a NEWS dvd, it ain’t that hard lol. They are not good dancers at all, as a group.
Self awareness / Image
I think he’s grown a lot in this area, but it still needs to be way way more. I’m not saying he should be cocky, but when I watch him sometimes I miss something. It doesn’t lack flair, or style, or being ‘suave’ (which I’m not that fond of). These things are nice but they don’t speak. They’ve groomed him well, but who is he? That kind of feeling. Even when the topic is about nothing you can still do that. He also proves to us that he can from the appearance on Ousama no brunch, 2009.11.14.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about! Well done. Of course I’m the one to say this but: “moar kahuna’s“. I think we shall call it: “the power to surprise“. It’s a combination of geekness and boldness. He can lend some of mine if he’s out; it seems it’s my natural forte. What a useless thing to have, if you’re me.
Sex appeal
As a girl’s idol, can’t do without this one. He’s trying to use what he’s got: ‘the m00bs, the pucker fish lips’. Like when you watch performances of MOLA/Loveless or anything else really he starts rubbing his lips. After about 10 times the trick gets old.
*holds up sign: we want skin*. Not only that, but it’s too contained/ serious. Would like to see him let go of that barrier, has not succeeded so far. Even if you don’t think so, people can see it. He is going to have to drop the cool a bit, to raise the passion.
Just watch how Shige does it, after he watched Harry met Sally. Not entirely what I mean, but I just loved that part. Work on your orgasm face! Would be happy to come and personally assess that anytime. Nao! To the next topic. 
Acting
*sighs* This year I wasn’t a very happy fangirl at all. t_t. First there was Buzzer Beat. I have no words to describe the intelligence level of that drama. There have been few shows that ate my brain as I was watching it, unless they were obviously attempting to do so. Luckily the director also knew and made sure to include lots of bathing Naoki’s (chapter 7 of my OPV). If anyone says they like that drama: you must have been dropped on your head. I’ve had more pleasant dentist appointments.
Now he’s filming for a second season of Code Blue. Code Blue was not my favorite either after the following mistakes in screenwriting/filming:
- The way chaos was filmed. If there was an accident somewhere they tried to emphasize that by going bonkers switching scenes every 2 seconds. I hated that. Because every time I thought “hey it’s getting interesting” they switch the view again. Just because it is chaos doesn’t mean you have to add to it by filming it as a giant chaos.
- One giant mistake concerning Aizawa. The first two episodes I greatly enjoyed the arrogance. Where the hell did it go the rest of the show? They’ve managed to completely make him bland after the first few episodes.
As for this role, it’s probably not suitable for something I’d really like to see: Yamapi as the villain (1) or Yamapi as I described here.
Yamapi, the orator
Sounds kinky… or maybe the orgasm face in this entry just stuck with me. In any case, whilst we often disagree I’d rather see him talk about 10 meaningful things in jweb or magazines that tend to piss me off, than 10 utterly boring things. Gives me something to write about! He should just make sure he doesn’t put on the YamaViking hat too often. It’s getting old. It’s like *that stupid game with that hammer and hat*. I think the mags should have some kind of photo shoot topic write in. I’ll start a small revolution from the intarweb to have his butt in a bear skin and a viking hat and his “best of” quotes underneath that.
And then, if I were his sister Rina, I’d stick that shoot in his fridge, his closet, the cupboard, in his wallet, in his jacket (etc). Man, I would have loved to have a brother. <3 I just realized. And another thing, when the entries aren’t about food – I find him more interesting than any other jwebs/ mag translations I read from members of NEWS or KAT-TUN (biased, but happy about it).
All in all, I’ll be looking forward following his career for years to come. Quite enjoyed myself so far XD.

I do agree that sometimes he really says and does a lot bullshit but it comes with the package. I don’t love his acting (except in NWP and Kurosagi) and it took me 2 years to actually love his voice.
Because of him, I now have a hair fetish, a neck fetish, a lips fetish and a moobs fetish

That’s what I said about the tooth LOL. Why get rid of Yamatooth, it was part of him!
XDD Unfortunately I don’t even think I am capable of worship of someone I don’t know. I’m possibly a very difficult person. No actually not really. I really like people who have a sense for themselves and for others. Probably the only times I think “fail” is when he does not do that; specifically because he’s in that public position.
Other than that, I’ve not been fangirling for nothing these past… 4 years? MY GOD FOUR YEARS.
I downloaded that interview, I’ll be happy if I understand a few lines though. Will have to listen tomorrow, gotta run now. Always pushing time I am *grumbles*.
