Loveless single review

Nov
14
2009

Okay okay, so I couldn’t wait. Needed the rest of the songs anyways. I’m not sure if that lt edition I’m getting contains the full list. Probably not, they suck, but I got it anyways thanks to fandom;) Who says piracy doesn’t pay? (any chance to say that).

On to the review! I was particularly interested in the song YamaGoldfish wrote the lyrics to himself, which is Moon Light. Watchful21 posted a version. So let’s focus on the lyrics first! Well as I’m not usually a pop music addict I am not impressed. Don’t be mistaking, it didn’t need to be depressing or anything but from the English that’s in there it’s possibly the most stupid song I ever read. That’s your best effort? *head desk* Someone translate me the Japanese parts because I hope that clarifies or sets it straight. A dozen in a row, is the feeling now. It’s okay to disagree with me, since I’m quite spoiled when it comes to lyrical meaning outside pop music and I attach a lot of value to it, even though I might not understand what is sung. A lot of times I’m thankful that I can’t. As my Japanese vocabulary is increasing, so should Yamapi’s song writing capabilities. Also: just because you’re in a boyband imperium making pop music doesn’t mean the same formula is a good thing. On the bright side: Yama’s song lyrics are better than what else is written by somebody else on that single. Some other songs are just aweful. Gawd, I’m doubting my motivation to learn the Japanese language now. Let alone I have to hear so much sung in English now. OKAY, so I’m not the type to be listening to this in terms of trying to appreciate lyrical content.

Loveless
It really sticks doesn’t it? Luckily I think I like it sticking in my head. Definitely a song I like. The title reminds me of  a fat penguin, but I like both the concept of this song as well as the music.

Crush on you (reg ed)
“I’m crishing on you?” I’m not sure what kind of word was invented here. ROFLMAO. It’s a CHRISTENING. Covert Catholic. I’m crishing on you ♥. About halfway through they sing it right, what a shame. IT’S HILARIOUS. *ROLLS*

I can’t believe this, it’s so hilarious!! Other than that, a pretty boring song. I think them Swedes make these song lyrics up for a laugh. Quit it knackebrod, it was funny enough.

Run from you (lim A)
That’s a bit better. They pulled another Timberlake, but it’s better than ‘crishing on you’ (painful). A song that’s fine playing in the background, but not something you intently listen to.

Dream Jam (reg ed)
Sounds a bit club like, unfortunately doesn’t manage to keep it up. Thumbs up on the vocals for this song. I might not find this song super, but I like the vocals.

ME (lim B)
What the **** is this? I fell asleep listening to this. Whoever made this music up, please fire this person.

After the rain (reg ed)
A ballad like song, not bad, but can’t say it will be on my repeat list.

Moonlight (lim B)
Do I sense a bit of Jazz? It’s fine to feel that vibe, just not for an entire song. It doesn’t jump out anywhere, which makes me an extremely bored fangirl.

Loveless instrumental
Nothing much to say about that.

Hmmm… I want to live to see the day Yamapi will compose a song by himself. Perhaps it’s too much to ask of a ‘girls idol’ to start on this as well, but I’m pretty sure that whatever was written for him now he can outdo. As for the lyrics writing… I find it so hard to believe that put itself on paper as something that belongs to Yamapi. Perhaps I still think too much of him (as a fan), but this is not something from the heart. The only song that has heart is Loveless, unfortunately also a bit depressing I’m guessing. While that’s not excluded in pop music, I do believe it’s possible to do something more ‘less fixated on the formula and more real‘. Try making a song that’s not about love but something silly like driving a car, being on a rollercoaster, feeling excited about a vacation for all I care (something I can relate to a.t.m.). He’ll sell however meager the music, or the songs – that’s something he will never have to worry about. So take charge!

=============TOTALLY UNRELATED
I saw someone on Twitter say “Hey, what’s with the health check up?”, since he mentioned on jweb he got blood drawn at the hospital.
I couldn’t stop myself: SO HIS DICK WON’T FALL OFF.

I fell asleep while listening and woke up with the sudden realization that “fact” sounds like “f***” when he says it in Run From You. I like the song much more now xP.

ME sounds like a Beyonce song.
And he goes: “Tell me which way you like me. Beauty or dirty. I can be anything if you want”.

Liked Moonlight, will be looping that and Loveless for a while.

I do believe he composed stuff like Love Song and Colorful. So it’s disappointing that he didn’t do something for this single, and it ended up being filled with mediocore b-sides anyway.

Really? I never paid much attention to it previously so I have no idea. If I may use a very Dutch saying: if that is so, it’s already apparent he can outdo this firewood (brandhout) of composers. Then the question is: why, if he’s so driven to become a superstar, did this turn out the way it did? There’s probably reasons for that, but I won’t exclude some of his own complacency.

      :smokin:

I must listen to Run from you again… 2:39 and 2:58 minutes right? LOL.

D: I think it’s because most of the stuff he’s composed are simple guitar ballads … and he’s been on a ‘western’ music craze for a while.

Mola was actually the first Pi concert solo that wasn’t a self-composition. And Mola sorta sucked – wonder if anyone told him that -.-

It might be interesting to see what a Japanese audience thinks of his single. Because us international fans are alr exposed to too many songs like ME and Run From You.

Could be it, too much ‘western music’ influence. There’s a reason why I don’t listen to it.

Did you notice that the most of musics has some latin style? I can hear the sound of castanets and guitars that sounds like flamenco.
Those strange moves that he does with his hands when he is performing loveless seems to be flamenco dance.
You know, his past singles has some spanish words like Daite Señorita and Mola.
I think he has mixed styles like Justin did with “Like I love you” and “Senõrita”.
