My new Japanese stats

Oct

2009

That’s quite some progress! Only I think I’m still too slow. What is it with Japanese and that every word sounds the same way. The lists I’m studying “Core 2000″ are very difficult after list 1 and 2.

iKnow usually starts with Japanese -> English, which I remember way too quickly. Then when it’s time to point out the Kana, I don’t remember the Japanese word. After that, I still have trouble writing it.

I’ve noticed the way the way they do things in the exercise isn’t the best anyway. At the very least they need to not keep showing the related pictures. I don’t know if they continue that past the first list or whatever. But when they show the picture I tend to use it if I don’t remember the word right off the bat. If you’re ignoring the word, you’re not learning it.

I don’t do well learning a language with these types of programs anyways. I have to actually use the word. And the dictation option speaks way to fast for me to keep up.

Probably one of the reasons I’m not enjoying class as much anymore. We’re doing lots of vocab and learning sentence ‘patterns’ and listening comprehension. But we aren’t practicing speaking the language as much as we probably should.

Yeah it’s definitely not any good to learn to speak it. Does help me piece more together watching drama’s.

That horrible horrible grammar is just killing me really. I always get it wrong even though I know what the rules are. Takes me too long to think about it. “ha” and “no” that’s about as far as I get it right. Then if there’s a “ha” in the beginning of the sentence and I hear a vague /swallowed “a” I just write “ga” and it’s okay most of the time.

To produce a sentence on my own is nearly impossible. I would just blurt out a few words in the wrong order.
